On Saturday 24 November, Mercy Community foster and kinship carers and their families in three regions were invited to Christmas parties to celebrate the festive season with games, food, and a visit from Santa.
188 people in the Brisbane and South-East region attended the Christmas party Mercy Community held at our site at Nudgee, in the north of Brisbane. We had multiple generous donations from the community, including sponsorship from a local Brisbane business, and merchandise from the Broncos. The party featured a jumping castle, waterslide, bubble soccer, Christmas-themed balloon animals, a reptile show, and sideshow alley games, which were built by a Mercy Community foster carer.
Mercy Community also had the pleasure of holding a foster and kinship care party on the North Coast, in conjunction with the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women, Churches of Christ, Anglicare, Uniting Care Queensland, and Life Without Barriers. The party, held at Eugene’s College, had over 400 attendees, who enjoyed the jumping castle, snow cones, glitter tattoos, bubble soccer, and petting zoo.
Mercy Community looks forward to our kinship and foster care Christmas parties every year, and loves taking the opportunity to say thank you to all our dedicated kinship and foster carers.
